Got blood test results

Got the blood test results this afternoon. The probability has gone down to 1 in 8630. Yeah! What a relief! I am 13 weeks today. Feeling happy that 1st trimester is ending... :)

Another cartoon by Piggy Daddy who dreams of a flying Super BB...

Fetal screening

Went to KK for the blood test and ultrasound scan today. The test also called Oscar is used to determine probability of Down Syndrome. When the doctor scanned today, he said he can see the baby's nasal bone and the skin behind the neck (nuchal transparency) is thin. Therefore, things look good so far and the risk of DS for my baby is 1 in 1200. For women in my age group, the probability is 1 in 500. Felt very relieved hearing that. However, this result needs to be combined with a blood test so the final results will be out in 2 days. Baby is now 7.4cm long. The scan is quite detailed, we saw the baby's head (even the brain), arms and legs. :)

Nearly fainted

I was standing in a crowded bus 31 just one bus stop from my workplace when I suddenly felt giddy and needed to sit down. :( This has never happened before. Luckily, there was a colleague on the bus and she supported me when I told her I was feeling giddy. I felt better while walking to office and tapow some hot milo at the canteen. Was thinking of seeing the doctor if I still don't feel good but luckily, everything was ok after that. I've only got 1 day MC left so don't want to use it if I can. Did am online search. Looks like fainting spells are quite common. Next time, must try and leave the house early and get a seat on the bus. :)

Dizziness and/or Fainting
When standing in one place you may feel dizzy or even faint. The growing uterus compresses major arteries in your legs which causes your blood pressure to drop making you extremely light headed. Skipping meals or going too long without eating may cause you to feel dizzy or faint. When not eating frequently enough it causes low blood sugar. Blood sugar is the primary source of food for your baby so it will be depleted much more quickly.

11 weeks and counting

Haven't posted in a long while cos I was busy with work. The other reason is because I haven't seen gynae for a while so got no pics to upload. ;) My next appt is 26 July for the OSCAR test (ie. a blood test and ultrasound for Down Syndrome) The test is optional and costs $315 but since I'm already over 30 years old, thought it's better to do it. Hopefully, everything turns out well. Nauseousness is more manageable but frequently happens around 4-5pm and at night 11-12pm. Maybe it's because my stomach is empty around that time, not sure. Looking forward to the end of week 12 (end of 1st trimester). Hope all the m/s symptoms will go away soon. :) Hubby bought a white rubber squeaky polar bear from NTUC yesterday. He said it's for baby but I know he bought it for himself cos he's a big kid and the polar bear had a very cute expression. Well, at least he promised to share it with baby... ;)

Disappearing Waistline

Felt bloated and miserable after dinner. Looked down at my tummy and it really looks BIGGER than ever. Decided to measure it and it was already 30 inches!!! I've gained about 3-4 inches already in these last 2 months. I'm exactly 10 weeks tomorrow.

Think have to start buying maternity clothes soon cos my bottoms won't fit. Luckily, I have some loose elastic band skirts which I can still wear but pants will be a problem. Just ordered some cheap maternity clothes online but need to consolidate order type so will take some time to arrive. Will start wearing maternity clothes once past 12 weeks to celebrate. Hee.
